Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Resources

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Racial Justice Resource Guide and Racial Equity Glossary

Volunteers with OAPA’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Group (DEIG) developed two new online resources in 2021 geared toward planners, allied professionals, and planning students. Reflected in the offerings is OAPA’s commitment to lead our equity work with race, with an emphasis on the intersectionality of anti-racist work. Learn more about these fantastic resources below.

OAPA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Racial Justice Resource Guide (Guide). With almost two hundred entries, resources are organized by: Organizations, Training Resources, Tools, Deeper Learning, and Planning in Oregon. The resources are not necessarily limited to planning-specific topics; foundational knowledge and planning adjacent materials are also included with the goal of having a wide variety of types of resources and topics. The Guide, curated by DEIG volunteers, is a living document that we hope to build on and is not intended to be comprehensive. The quality of the Guide depends on participation and new resources for review for inclusion in the Guide are welcome! You can find more details about how to submit suggestions in the Guide. OAPA Racial Equity Glossary. Defining key equity terms can foster a shared understanding and common language about racial equity, improving the quality of discussions about race. It is hoped that this deepened understanding advances collaborative work around planning related anti-racist practices and policies in Oregon. The Glossary’s definitions are from a variety of original sources, noted with each entry, and are organized alphabetically in the following sections: Key Terms, Other Related Terms, Terms Reinforcing Implicit Bias, and Additional Glossary Links. Feel free to submit a term or additional definition for review for inclusion using the link provided in the Glossary.
