This professional-level role involves a mix of technical and planning work, supporting both current and long-range community development efforts.

What You’ll Do:

  • Development Review: Evaluate land use applications and site plans, ensuring they align with our city's vision and regulations. Provide valuable recommendations to guide development projects.
  • Community Engagement: Be a friendly face and helpful resource for the public, developers, and the business community. Answer inquiries, provide information, and assist with planning-related questions.

  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with other departments, agencies, and stakeholders. Communicate complex information clearly and effectively through presentations, public information materials, and our website.
  • Research and Reporting: Conduct studies, analyze data, and prepare reports to inform key planning decisions and address important development and policy issues.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in urban or regional planning, public administration, or a closely related field. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Experience: At least one year of experience using technical skills such as interpreting codes, preparing and presenting reports, assisting community members/groups, and developing maps using GIS. Equivalent experience is welcome.
  • Skills:
    • Ability to learn and apply local land use planning ordinances and state statutes.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
