Urban Growth Planning Intern

The City of Eugene Community Planning & Design team is seeking paid intern support for the summer of 2025. Intern responsibilities will be focused on supporting Urban Growth Strategies – a multi-year effort focused on housing and urban growth planning. Intern(s) will learn the following through a variety of internship tasks, including but not limited to:
- Developing thoughtful and accessible materials for internal and external audiences
- Applying an equity lens to project materials and engagement opportunities
- Producing communications content to share information about ongoing projects (including the EUG Planning e-newsletter, Instagram, Facebook, and website)
- Staffing community engagement events with a focus on reaching underserved communities
- Analyzing community engagement results and creating summary reports, including surveys
- Conducting research on best practices in housing and urban growth
- Supporting the identification and evaluation of possible actions the City could take to meet local housing needs
- Other tasks or responsibilities associated with learning outcomes mutually agreed upon by the intern and internship supervisor

The Community Planning & Design team is seeking candidates with the following qualities:
- Interest in the Eugene community, land use planning, housing, and equity
- Enthusiasm for communicating and engaging with the public
- Demonstrated professional writing skills
- Interest in researching best practices in housing and land use planning
- Personal, academic, or professional outreach and communications experience
- Interest in event planning and program coordination
- Enthusiasm for collaboration and teamwork
- Personal, academic, or professional experience with community engagement, housing planning, or comprehensive planning is preferred but not required
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred but not required
