Statement about the award

Recognizes excellent planning processes conducted by individual students or student teams. Students can apply for any of the professional awards listed by OAPA using that specific award’s eligible projects and criteria. In addition to the individual award criteria, nominees must also demonstrate they meet the student award eligibility and criteria below.

Who is eligible

  • Students from any undergraduate or graduate program in Oregon.
  • Individuals or teams may apply.
  • Projects must have been completed between the academic years 2023-2025.

Student-Focused Criteria

The nominated plan or project must demonstrate how it meets the following criteria:

  • Quality (15 points): Does the entry show excellence in thought analysis, writing, graphics, and application of ethical planning principles? Were available resources used in a well-conceived and appropriate form?
  • Collaboration (10 points): Did the students engage or consultant engage the public or stakeholders outside the academic setting (advisory groups, etc.)

Other requirements for eligibility

  • Regional projects or plans that extend beyond Oregon may be eligible, but must have a substantial nexus to planning in Oregon.
