Update on COVID-19: OAPA suspends in-person events through 4/3
March 12, 2020
OAPA continues to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation, including calls to minimize group gatherings and consider social distancing practices. Given this guidance, OAPA will suspend in-person meetings and events beginning immediately through Friday, April 3. The health and safety of our members, volunteers, and staff is our highest priority.
By Wednesday, April 1, OAPA will announce the status of Oregon events and meetings scheduled in April. Registration for April events remains open, and fees will be refunded should events require postponement or cancellation due to COVID-19.
Although this situation is disrupting our in-person networking and professional development events, volunteers and staff are working to identify opportunities to use web meetings and other technologies in planned events to enable remote participation. As we modify our programming, we’ll communicate these opportunities as we know more.
As of today, APA National is advising us that the National Planning Conference (NPC) in Houston remains on course and will be held as scheduled in April unless APA is directed otherwise by a governmental entity. APA has developed a Coronavirus Action Plan to address prevention and response plans at NPC.
Again, we urge everyone to heed CDC guidance on minimizing the spread of coronavirus, taking appropriate measures for those at higher risk, and appropriate response for those that do become ill.
Please contact us at oapa@oregonapa.org if you have any questions or concerns. We look forward to meeting again in person once we’re through these interesting times!
