OAPA Statement on Coronavirus (COVID-19)
March 9, 2020
To OAPA Members,
Both OAPA and APA National continue to follow coronavirus developments and potential impacts to our programming. The health and safety of our members is our highest priority.
As of today, national and OAPA events are scheduled to take place as planned, including the National Planning Conference in Houston. APA has released a Coronavirus Action Plan for NPC, which covers the steps that APA is taking to address concerns as they arise. Local events and meetings in Oregon are on schedule to be held as planned.
OAPA is monitoring updates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Oregon Health Authority and local health departments. At this time, local authorities are not recommending cancelling events, but we will follow OHA and local guidance should it change. If it becomes necessary to cancel, adjust, or postpone events, OAPA will communicate with attendees and members immediately.
We strongly encourage everyone to follow CDC guidelines for preventing the spread of coronavirus. We respectfully ask members who are experiencing symptoms, or who have members of their household that are or have recently experienced symptoms, to refrain from participation at in-person events. In this case, please contact us and we will work with you to find another way for you to participate remotely or refund registration fees.
As always, if you have questions or additional concerns, please contact us at oapa@oregonapa.org.
