Senior Planner - Urban Specialist

Position performs advanced level professional planning work as well as supervisory and management duties in the Urban section of the planning department.

Process land use applications, including conditional use permits, land divisions, development, and boundary line adjustments for urban areas of Douglas County; Advise clients, conduct pre-application conferences and field investigations; Draft decisions and facilitate client condition compliance.

Process quasi-judicial plan amendment and zone change applications; Advise clients, conduct pre-application conferences and field investigations; Draft staff reports and present at public hearings; Draft findings as needed and coordinate follow-up.

Supervise, oversee, and support front counter operations and staff; Coordinate the issuance of development authorizations and timely and accurate land use information to counter clients.

Train staff on the Douglas County Land Use and Development Ordinance (LUDO); Conduct ongoing quality control on counter staff performance and customer service.

Duties may include coordination of citizen involvement, historic resources, or coastal planning programs.

Preferred candidate will possess Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) accreditation or ability to achieve and maintain CFM accreditation.
